An overloaded schedule can be organized fast and easy with specialized applications, but in most cases, you must bring up an interface each time you wish to see your upcoming appointments. Desktop Planner brings a more efficient approach to organizing a schedule. Like the application's name suggests, it allows you to keep up with upcoming tasks and events, directly on your desktop.

Desktop Planner is not free, but its trial version is fully functional and you will not encounter any nag screens or other annoying reminders. The application can be installed in no time and it does not ask for additional tools or services.

When launched, Desktop Planner will place a calendar on your desktop, which can be moved anywhere on the screen. Besides the current month, the calendar displays your scheduled events and tasks, as well as a text box, where you can type your personal notes or reminders. Days with events are colored differently in the calendar. Double clicking one of these dates will display the events themselves on a small window.

To create a new task or event, you must right click the application's system tray icon and select the appropriate options, but you can also double click the calendar, in certain areas, which is much faster. When defining an event, you can type its name, location and a short description, specify the start and end dates and enable an alarm. Additionally, you can set your event to occur once, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.

Tasks can be defined much faster. You just need to type its name, categorize it, select a priority and a due date. If you double click the tasks, listed on the desktop calendar, the application will display them in a To-do list, on which you can mark the items as complete.

Pros

Desktop Planner's features are easy to understand. You may create tasks and events in just a few seconds. Everything can be done directly on your desktop, without navigating through a thick layer of menus.

Cons

The application is free to try for 30 days. With Desktop Planner's simple and straightforward functionality, you will be able to keep track of important events and focus on your work at the same time.
